Uzhunnu Vada Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Black Gram Dal - 2 cups
  • Curry Leaves - 1 stalk
  • Green chillies (sliced) - 2 nos
  • Ginger (finely chopped ) - 2 tsp
  • Asofoetida (powdered) - 1/4 tsp
  • Pepper corn - 1 tsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Coconut oil - to fry


Preparation:

  1. Soak black gram dal in water for 2 hours.
  2. Drain the water from it and grind to a fine paste till it is creamy, but make sure it is not watery.
  3. Add to batter, green chillies, ginger, asofoetida, curry leaves, pepper and salt and mix well.
  4. Roll batter in to small balls and flatter in palm. Make a small hole in the middle.
  5. Heat oil in a deep frying pan and immerse the vada balls in it. When it turns golden brown, remove and drain oil.
  6. Serve with coconut chutney.
