Kerala Rice Recipes

→ Fried Rice → Ghee Rice → Biryani Rice
→ Vegetable Pulao → Lemon Rice → Tomato Rice
→ Jeeraka kanji → Curd Rice → Coconut Rice


Jeeraka Kanji Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Basmati rice - 1 cup
  • Cumin seeds (Jeerakam) - 3 tsp or as reqd
  • Coconut (grated) - 1/2 cup
  • Garlic pod - 1 no (optional)
  • Salt - As reqd
  • Water - As reqd


Preparation:

  1. Grind together jeerakam, coconut and garlic with a little water. Keep aside.
  2. In a pressure cooker, add washed basmati rice, ground jeerakam and coconut paste.
  3. Pour water as required and salt into it.
  4. Cook for 5 minutes.
  5. Do not let the pressure cooker to whistle.
  6. Keep out of flame for another 5 minutes.
  7. Mix well before use.
  8. Serve hot.
