Kerala Rice Recipes

→ Fried Rice → Ghee Rice → Biryani Rice

Ghee Rice Recipe

Ingredients:

  • Basmati Rice - 2 cups
  • Ghee - ¼ cup
  • Coconut milk - 1/2 cup
  • Onions (thinly sliced) - 2 Cup
  • Chinnamon (broke into pieces) - 1 small
  • Cloves - 1/4 tsp
  • Bay leaves - 2
  • Cardamom crushed - 6 nos
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1/4 tsp
  • Roasted Cashews and Raisins - for garnishing
  • Salt - to taste


Preparation:

  1. Wash the rice throughly and drain the water.
  2. Keep a thick bottomed pan on the stove and add ghee.
  3. Add onions, cinnamon, bay leaves,cloves, ginger garlic paste and cardamom and fry for 2-3 minutes.
  4. After that add the rice which is kept aside and saute for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Once done remove ingredients to a pressure cooker and coconut milk, water and salt and pressure cook till the rice is done.
  6. Mix roasted cashews and raisins and leave aside for 15 minutes. Serve warm.
