Kerala Pickle Recipes

→ Lime Pickle → Dry Mango Pickle → Carrot Pickle
→ Ginger Pickle → Nelllikka Achar → Onion Pickle
→ Fish Pickle → Prawns Pickle → Meat Pickle


Gooseberry/Nelllikka Achar

Ingredients:

  • Gooseberry - 3 lb
  • Chilli powder - 3/4 lb
  • Fried fenugreek powder - 4 dsp
  • Asafoetida powder - 2dsp
  • Mustard - 1 1/2 dsp
  • Curry leaves - a few
  • Salt - to taste
  • Gingelly oil - 1 bottle


Preparation:

  1. Heat oil in a pan and fry thegooseberries till they become soft to touch.
  2. Remove from fire an mix all the ingredients along with salt.
  3. Heat the remaining oil, splutter the mustard seeds and fry curry leaves and pour into the gooseberries.
  4. Remove from fire.
  5. Store them in jars.
