Kerala Fish Curry Recipes
Prawns Masala Recipe
Ingredients:
- Prawns(chemmeen) - 1 lb
- Ginger - a big piece
- Garlic pods - 6 nos
- Small red onions - 1 cup
- Coconut small pieces - 1/2 cup
- Chilly powder - 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- Coriander powder - 1/2 tsp
- Coconut oil - 4 tbsp
- Curry leaves - 2 sprigs
- Kukum star (Kudampuli) - 2 nos
Preparation:
- Clean the prawns and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a pan or a kadai.
- Splutter mustard seeds.
- Add the grated ginger, garlic and curry leaves and saute for 3 mins, till its brown.
- Add the powders and saute on a low flame for 1 min.
- Add little water (1/2 cup) to this followed by kudam puli and let it boil till half the water is evaporated.
- At this point, you can add the prawns and let it be cooked on a low flame.
- Make sure all water is evaporated.
- Heat oil in another pan.
- Add the red onions and saute, till its brown.
- Add the thengakothu and saute it nicely.
- After this you can add the cooked prawns and saute for 2 mins.
- Serve hot with rice or chapathi.
