Kerala Fish Curry Recipes
Fish Mappas Recipe
Ingredients:
- Fresh Fish - 1/2 kg
- Onion (medium, sliced) - 2 nos
- Green chillies(slit) - 6 nos
- Ginger (chopped) - 2 inch piece
- Garlic pods (chopped) - 4 nos
- Vinegar - 2 tsp
- Curry leaves - 12 nos
- Thin coocnut milk - 1 1/2 cups
- Thick coconut milk - 3/4 cup
- Kashmiri chilli powder - 1 tbsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Corriander powder - 1 tsp
- Cumin powder(Jeerakam) - 1/2 tsp
- Salt - As reqd
- Oil - 3 tbsp
Preparation:
- Clean the fish and cut it into medium sized slices.
- Make a paste of chilly powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder in 4 tsp of water.
- Heat oil in a pan.
- Saute onions, chilli, garlic, ginger and curry leaves together.
- When done, add the masala paste and stir.
- Add 1 1/2 cups of thin coconut milk, salt and vinegar.
- Cover and boil.
- Add fish and after its cooked and the gravy has thickened, add 3/4 cup thick coconut milk.
- Simmer for 3 mins and remove from flame.
- Serve hot with rice.
